Turquoise 4ply yarn.

This beautiful worsted spun high end Border Leicester yarn is grown here on our farm in North Yorkshire, from our pedigree flock of over 300 pedigree Border Leicester sheep. Ours is a slaughter-free flock, so all of our sheep live to grow old.

After shearing we handpick the fleeces and transport them to Bradford for washing, combing and worsted spinning. The result is stunning.  With a great handle, stitch definition and drape, it is the perfect yarn for your special project. British through and through and we are very proud of it!  It is also fabulous for colourwork, having the necessary ‘sticky’ qualities to enable stranded work and steeking.

Our Turquoise 4ply yarn is a vibrant blue, as you would expect. Its name is derived from the French word for ‘Turkish’, as the mineral was first brought to us here in Europe through Turkey, but originally from mines in Persia and Afghanistan.  Revered for thousands of years as a holy stone and a bringer of good fortune, you will certainly feel a million dollars wearing anything made in this colour yarn! One of the brighter of our shades, it tones remarkably well with others in our Yorkshire-inspired colour range.
