Famous for its prolific flush of wild daffodils along the River Dove which flows through its heart, Farndale is a pretty place with plenty of Yorkshire dry stone walls. Its name is of disputed origin, perhaps coming from Celtic ‘Faren’ (beautiful), or Scandinavian ‘far’ (sheep), or Old English ‘fearn’ (ferny place) or Gaelic ‘Fearna (alder tree). Part of Farndale is now a nature reserve, to protect its daffodils. It has featured in films, television adaptations and music. Our Farndale is a soothing sage green, masculine but soft.

This beautiful worsted spun high end Border Leicester yarn is grown here on our farm in North Yorkshire, from our pedigree flock of over 300 pedigree Border Leicester sheep, who all live to grow old.

After shearing we handpick the fleeces and transport them to Bradford for washing, combing and worsted spinning. The result is stunning.  With a great handle, stitch definition and drape, it is the perfect yarn for your special project. British through and through and we are very proud of it!
