Roseberry Topping 4ply yarn

This beautiful worsted spun high end Border Leicester yarn is grown here on our farm in North Yorkshire, from our pedigree flock of over 300 rare breed Border Leicester sheep. Ours is a slaughter-free flock, so all of our sheep live to grow old.

After shearing we handpick the fleeces and transport them to Bradford for washing, combing and worsted spinning. The result is stunning.  With a great handle, stitch definition and drape, it is the perfect yarn for your special project. British through and through and we are very proud of it! This yarn is fabulous for cables and colour work, having the all-important ‘sticky’ qualities to facilitate stranded knitting and steeking.  And we have a wonderful range of Yorkshire-inspired shades inspired by the landscape around us.

With its iconic summit of a half-cone shape and a jagged cliff, Roseberry Topping offers fine views across North Yorkshire and Cleveland. It has often been compared with the Matterhorn, with its distinctive shape caused through a geological fault and a mining collapse. The area includes bluebell woods, heather moorland, the Roseberry Common and an abandoned quarry. This purple-red shade of Roseberry Topping 4ply yarn is reminiscent of heather rippling across the moors, toning beautifully with many other shades in our range.
