Description
Cringle Moor 4ply Yarn, a lovely cool purple blue shade. This beautiful worsted spun, high-end Border Leicester yarn is grown here on our farm in North Yorkshire, from our pedigree flock of over 300 pedigree Border Leicester sheep. Ours is a slaughter-free flock, so all of our sheep live to grow old.
After shearing we handpick the fleeces and transport them to Bradford for washing, combing and worsted spinning. The result is stunning. With a great handle, stitch definition and drape, it is the perfect yarn for your special project. British through and through and we are very proud of it. An ethical British product, made in Yorkshire from a single flock, and a wonderful yarn for your special project.
Also known as Crainmoor, Cringle Moor is the third highest hill in the North Yorkshire Moors. Alfred Wainwright, the famous walker, described this stretch of the Moors as one of the finest. Just to the west of it is the burial mound of Drake Howe, a Bronze Age monument – ‘Howe’ is Old Norse for ‘burial mound’.
Our Cringle Moor 4ply yarn has a cool tone reflecting the mysterious and ancient feel of these old moors. This yarn has the perfect sticky qualities for stranded knitting and steeking, and tones well with the other shades in our Yorkshire-inspired colour range.
The yarn is available in 100g skeins.
