Description
From Moors to Mills, this is our fabulous book of patterns and essays, which we published in 2020.
It contains essays on the history of wool in Yorkshire, how it established trade routes, innovation and employment as well as the part it played in the Industrial Revolution. There is also information on the Border Leicester breed, the part it played and continues to play in this story. It is a breed ‘improver’ as well as a strong breed in its own right, although classed as a rare breed.
This book also contains 13 patterns for garments and accessories for men and women inspired by this story. These were specifically designed to be knit up in our fabulous, rare breed, slaughter free pure British Border Leicester yarn. From the Doffers Scarf to the Wool Queen cabled sweater, and not forgetting Cogs and Wheels sweater, this book is great value. It will be a fantastic addition to your knitting bookshelf, with each purchase helping to ensure the breed endures.
These patterns in From Moors to Mills follow the theme of the book which follows the route of the fleeces via the moors to the mills in Leeds. It all began in Yorkshire!
