Our new Autumn and Winter collections are here!

We are pleased to be able to announce the arrival of three of our new Autumn/Winter Colours. Two of them were launched at Perth Festival of Yarn last weekend and were met with great enthusiasm. The first is a very dramatic, deep Forest Green, which is available in Aran, DK and 4 ply. The next one is a beautiful zingy mustard, Clay Bank.

The latest wonderful, vibrant colour, is a beautifully rich, deep royal, purple, Hambleton, named after the range of hills around us.

More to follow soon!

Alum has been used as a fixative for dyes in woolen textiles since the Romans.  In fact, the Pope in Rome controlled the provision of Alum in this country until Henry VIII upset him in the 16th century and he cut off the supply.  This problem for the woolen industry was resolved when Alum was found on the North York Moors.  It is a dark grey rock which was taken from the cliffs around Ravenscar where streams or becks would cascade down to the shoreline.
