Wainstones DK yarn. This beautiful worsted spun high end Border Leicester yarn is grown here on our farm in North Yorkshire, from our pedigree flock of over 300 pedigree Border Leicester sheep, who all live to grow old.
After shearing we handpick the fleeces and transport them to Bradford for washing, combing and worsted spinning. The result is stunning. With a great handle, stitch definition and drape, it is the perfect yarn for your special project. British through and through and we are very proud of it!
The Wain Stones are a set of rocks up on the northwestern edge of the Cleveland Hills, on the edge of Hasty Bank. Just below them, on three sides, there is a smaller collection of rocks which display ancient carvings. Their meanings are unknown but thought to date from the Bronze Age. It truly is a place of age and mystery.
Wainstones DK yarn is a pale grey, reflecting the heavy weathering endured by the stones. It perfectly tones with the other shades in our Yorkshire-inspired colour range.
