Description
Rievaulx 4ply Yarn. This beautiful worsted spun, high-end Border Leicester yarn is grown here on our farm in North Yorkshire, from our pedigree flock of over 300 pedigree Border Leicester sheep. Ours is a slaughter-free flock, so all of our sheep live to grow old.
After shearing we handpick the fleeces and transport them to Bradford for washing, combing and worsted spinning. The result is stunning. With a great handle, stitch definition and drape, it is the perfect yarn for your special project. British through and through and we are very proud of it! It is perfect for both textured stitches and also colourwork, as it has the sticky qualities to enable steeking.
A Cistercian abbey in North Yorkshire, Rievaulx was seized in 1538 by Henry VIII during his dissolution of monasteries. Considered one of the great abbeys in England, this vibrant, deep red shade captures its magnificence, which has not dulled, despite Henry’s actions. You won’t regret choosing our Rievaulx 4ply Yarn for a soft and squishy garment you will treasure for years to come. This shade tones surprisingly well with others in our range of Yorkshire-inspired colours.
