Dalby Forest is situated on the southern slopes of the North York Moors National Park. The southern part of the forest is divided by a number of valleys whilst to the north the forest sits on the upland plateau. It is maintained by the UK Forestry Commission and forms part of the North Riding Forest Park, found within the North York Moors National Park. The trees are mainly traditional deciduous species such as oak, beech, ash, alder and hazel. They produce leaves of many hues which blend together to give a rich deep green similar to our yarn colour.
